The basic admission criterion for B.Ed. is a minimum of a high school diploma for a four year degree and an undergraduate degree for a one year program. Besides that, the typical conditions for enrollment in an undergraduate college also apply, like SAT scores, school transcripts and an admission essay submitted along with the college application.

Also, anybody applying for a B.Ed. program needs to have an aptitude for teaching and certain skills, including how well a person interacts with children, patience, and an ability to communicate effectively, among many others.

Concentration streams for B.Ed. depend on the grade level the person wants to teach at. Usually students of B.Ed. eventually streamline their program into primary education, secondary education or high school education. Career Prospects
Education is the second largest industry in the United States. It is further expected to grow by about 17%. Thus, jobs are plenty in this sector. The pay scale is also fine although not as high as for business graduates.

With a B.Ed. degree, you may not only work as a teacher but also as a school administrator, education counselor, syllabus and textbook writer and faculty trainer. Graduates may also go into educational research or work with the state board departments.

Online Programs for Bachelor of Education
The B.Ed. degree may also be obtained online. This is a good way to earn this degree with flexible timings and schedules. You may be able to finish it in the same time as a regular B.Ed. program or take up to 6 years to complete it, whichever way your time schedule allows you. Since most states require a license to teach, earning an online B.Ed. degree is a good idea if you want to take up a job after college but eventually want to move into teaching, for which you need a license. Also, and quite obviously, when you take an additional course, you are looking at an increase in your salary as well as better career prospects.
