Why English?
English is one of the most widely used languages in the world. English is unique in the fact that it is perhaps the only language that links the world together. English also has the prize of being spoken across all 7 continents, and no matter where you go people are bound to be English literate. For professionals of all sorts, English holds a unique importance as it is the language in which most research and studies are conducted.  For those wishing to pursue higher degrees in English, Bachelor’s degrees(BA) in the language are offered in almost every university around the world. Bachelor’s degree courses include instruction on literature, poetry, creating writing and communication skills. Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in English are ideal for jobs in the journalism & advertising industries. Many graduates of a BA in English go on to pursue careers as translators or teach English. Students can do 1 year courses and earn a ‘Provisional Certificate of Teaching English’ (PCTE) which allows them to teach up to the high school level. Further options include obtaining a Master’s degree in English or a certification in ‘Teaching English as a Foreign Language’ (TEFL) which open up a wide variety of exciting career options in teaching, publishing and public relations fields.
