What is Yasmin Birth Control?
Yasmin birth control is a contraceptive pill introduced in 2001 designed to prevent pregnancy. It is manufactured by Bayer Healthcare pharmaceuticals. The Drug is made up of three ingredients drospirenone, progestin and Oestradiol. Yasmin is an oral contraceptive and is one of the most popular drugs in the United States.


What is Yasmin used for?
Yasmin Birth Control is a contraceptive pill that prevents ovulation and causes changes in the mucus of the cervix that makes it difficult for the sperm to penetrate into the uterus. Yasmin is also used to treat symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder like anxiety, depression, irritability, weight gain, headache and others. Yasmin birth control is also used to treat acne in women and teenagers provided that they have a regular menstrual cycle. The drug is also very effective for women with painful and/or irregular periods. Due to the effectiveness of Yasmin birth control and the claimed benefits it brings, it is quite popular.

Yasmin and Interactions With Other Drugs
Drugs or other herbal products that induce certain enzymes, for example Cytochrome reduce the effectiveness of Yasmin birth control contraceptives. These include Phenytoin, Topiramate and others. Interactions between such oral contraceptives and other herbal products may lead to bleeding or contraceptive failure. In order to ensure that the use of herbal products does not hinder the effectiveness of Yasmin birth control, it is essential to continue back-up contraception for at least 28 days after discontinuing the enzyme inducing herbal product.

Side Effects Associated With Yasmin Birth Control.
